About

Say what you mean, but don’t say it mean.

In the past, they would have said, “I am a woman of a certain age.” However today, being over the age of 50, am just another adult learner. Trying to expand my mind and stay relevant in this generation of millennials. I am starting by taking my digital education to new levels, learning to participate on multiple platforms. Even if it is just knowing what those platforms are. I want to grow, learn, and be involved.

The adult learners face more challenges than just learning the subject matter, they also have to catch up on the technology. Not only is this challenging, but sometimes the younger undergrads find this entertaining. It takes courage to expose yourself to this scrutiny on a regular basis, and it takes strength to keep trying.

Fortunately, I have never really given a shit what people think of me. I recall an evening with the my husband’s partners and their wives, at the time, I was the youngest wife. The wives sequestered themselves off to the side commenting about the staff spouses. Curious, I asked their impressions of me. Their cumulative response was, “You are real.” I thought to myself, cool, yup, that’s me. At the time, I was too young and naive to realize they had not mean it as a compliment. I still wear that badge proudly. No one will ever feel manipulated or used by me, because with me, you always know where you stand. I AM REAL.
